Layering Your Rugs

If you’re interested in adding flair and coziness to the biggest room in your home, layering rugs is about to be the hottest trend. Doubling or tripling up on textures, prints, and colors through masterful textile stacking creates an incredible visual impact.

This technique works wonders, especially in open-concept areas, where defining separate zones can be challenging, and it also adds dimension and depth. In large rooms, layering rugs helps defines specific areas. I used rug layering to define a specific dining area (circle rug) atop my pre-existing living room rug (square), underneath my hallway rug (rectangle). If done tastefully, it provides an intriguing level of décor flair, rather than looking overwhelming so I highly suggest you have this a try! I’m a huge fan of trying out ways that gives my rooms a tactile and visually interesting appeal. This trend has got you covered – no pun intended!
