Only a few things can bring me to Midtown on a weekend - one of them is to visit MoMa and another is a posh afternoon tea sesh with a friend! I love MoMa because even though it can get busy (especially over at Van Gogh's Starry Night) there are many corners that not alot of people tend to flock to- like the Richard Serra sculptures at the new annex. I like to top this visit off with a *reservations only* type of place - which makes sure the weekend crowds are also kept at a minimum!
Tea at Baccarat Hotel
28 West 53rd Street New York, NY
🔹 Afternoon tea is held daily 12-5pm, reservations only
🔹 Their space is more like a hotel lounge than a typical tea room full service meal. It's also right across MoMA but the glass is pixelated which gives off a trippy effect
🔹 Prince of Wales Tea was $90/person when I went in 2021 + tax and tip which rounded up to about $124/person
🔹 Contrary to typical Afternoon Teas in the UK where any of the sandwiches, desserts, scones AND tea are unlimited - this one was a set
🔹 Pricey but a nice place to impress out of towners for sure!
11 W 53rd St, New York, NY 10019
🖼 Free for NYC residents every first Friday of the month from 4PM onwards
🖼 Museum entry is $25 for adults, $14 for students (bring your ID)
🖼 If you're pressed for time, plan to spend at least 2 hours here
Bonus: Apple Fifth Avenue at 767 5th Avenue which is always nice to the eyes!
