aside from my love of coffee, there’s a handful of reasons why i decided to go back to being a barista after 4 years. thought i might share some of those with y’all, also in case anyone might be considering it for themselves☺️☕️
i used to work at Dutch Bros Coffee, 4 different locations over the course of 3 years — both in Redding & Anderson. i started working there during my senior year of high school, and it was a blast. eventually i felt like i needed to make more money so i got a job at an escrow company (in the real estate field), but ever since then I’ve missed working with coffee. now i work at the Peet’s in Yosemite Curry Village!
so here’s why i went back:
• it can be a great creative outlet
• coffee is almost always busy — so time flies super fast & before you know it, your shift is over!
• doesn’t really feel like work because i find it so fun and fulfilling
• you go home smelling like coffee, which i personally love.
• TIPS !! being a barista is usually a good tipping position. it’s not like when you’re a server in a restaurant level, but it is better than nothing! on average i go home with $20 per shift.
• the community is awesome — i have made some super fast friends through working in coffee. many of which i stay in touch with💗☕️
• lots of light hearted & happy spirits work in coffee
• i love playing a part in how people start their days :)
