One of the top questions that I get asked all the time by my girlfriends, “are eyelash extensions better or lash lift?” 😤

No thanks to the mega-confusing and wide range of eyelash designs out there, I could never provide a clear-cut answer to those of you who asked. Because the truth is, it all depends on your eye shape/ lash! 🫢

After doing some research & info provided from my lash tech, I’ll share with you girlies what I can recommend to help you make the best choice! I’ll also add in my personal POV since I’ve tried mostly all the designs!

To get a better idea, there are mainly 3 different types of eyelash styles:

🎀 Dolly eye - If you’re going for that innocent, Barbie & Japanese look, then opt for this! This design helps to make our eyes appear BIGGER & FULLER. As someone with an almond eye shape, I’m so in love with this & am now a convert from cat eye! (which I’ll share more in detail below). This style involves placing shorter lashes on the inner & outer corners, with the longer lashes placed in the middle of the eye. Perfect for a flattering look to freshen the face 🤩 Ladies with monolid, hooded, or almond eyes should all try this!! imo, the perfect lash mix to pair this design with are mermaid lashes, manga lashes, or Thai style lashes, since they all pretty much give the "dolly-barbie" eye effect. Who doesn’t love bigger eyes anyway? 👀

🎀 Cat eye – If you’re hitting the club, trying to spite your ex, ready to bring that divine feminine energy, then the cat eye’s got your back! 😉 As the name suggests, a classic cat eye style features shorter lengths in the front, gradually lengthening to longer lashes at the back. This style is ideal for women with round eyes as the cat eye balances the curve of the eyes, creating a seductive look. I actually sticked with this lash design for about 3 years (lol insane!) before realising that the dolly eye looked better on me. Ladies with downturned or hooded eyes might want to avoid this lash style because it actually makes your eye shape appear smaller and dull ☹️ Some amazing lash combinations to the cat eye can be: YY lashes, volumed lashes, and Kylie wispy lashes.

🎀 Lash lift – I know many of you prefer natural lashes, but I honestly don't see much of a difference after my lash lift! 😩 I believe it works best for women who already have long, thick lashes, particularly European and Indian women (i’m so envious of y’all!).

Otherwise, I don't get the hype for this bc it costs almost as much as lash extensions (typically between $80 and $120) and the curl shape is distorted easily after rubbing your eyes. So, if you know you have that habit then a lash lift might not be the best idea.

Personally, I'll go to @lashney.sg for my lash fix bc I love how natural and "qiao" (which means curl) her lashes are, giving the natural mascara feel even without applying any! 😳 She runs home-based at Woodlands with 3 years of experience, is very meticulous and has a very special set of lashes that is just different from all the others I’ve tried! (I mean you can judge for yourself from the pictures 😉)
