1. Supernova

Might actually be my first time trying savoury toast! There was a big crowd when I was there, but the staff were friendly and attentive. The Fried Chicken French Toast ($22.50) had both savoury and sweet elements worked into it. The soft shokupan french toast had a huge slab of fried chicken, and topped with compound garlic butter. There is also hot maple at the side for you to drizzle on. While the chicken wasn’t greasy and oily, I did feel it was a little dry and salty for my liking. We ordered the rigatoni as well but that was pretty average…

Would I go back? Nah 🥲

2. Five Oar Coffee Roasters

They are known to be v v popular and we queued for 30min for a seat during brunch timing. However, the wait was all worth for this French Toast ($17). This was literally heaven served on a plate with its many different elements and mascarpone cream 😍 The brioche used was buttery and airy and I appreciated the toppings were something different from what usual cafes serve- rhubarb, canned peaches and poached pears. Mascarpone cream was a nice addition as it made the toast even sweeter, but it was a bit too thin. Definitely recommend to share with its huge portions.

3. One Man Coffee

The Salted Caramel Banana Brioche French Toast ($17) comes with caramelised banana topped with summer berries and dusted with sugar- what a sweet start to your day. Unlike your usual eggy French toast, this had more of a cinnamon and cakey texture.

4. Atlas Coffeehouse

Always down to try desserts and this cafe was popular ever since my secondary school days. I had the Strawberry French Toast ($22.50) and it was cloyingly sweet since it was just overload of strawberry. Saw that they revamped their menu and now it contains blueberry and fresh cream, the idea of that sounds more palatable and easy on the stomach. Cafe is perfect for a date (I had my second date there 😆)- we ordered drinks while waiting for their afternoon menu to start and the staff had no issues with it.

4. Tuk Tuk Cha

The OG Shibuya Toast ($10)….. I had so many of them in secondary school and jc…… Their toasts are so fragrant and buttery and warm… and pairs damn frking well with the ice creams…. The perfect combination of warm and cold, I love it when places play with temperature. Ive tried quite a few flavours and the coconut is definitely my favourite. Thai milk tea is ok, chocolate is meh.. they don’t go well. Maybe I should revisit this place soon!
