Why the Bamboo Forest in Japan is overrated 🇯🇵

The Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is a popular place in Kyoto, but in my opinion it‘s overrated, usually quite crowded and a visit there felt underwhelming. To my surprise, the forest is also not that big.

If you‘re visiting the area Arashiyama in Kyoto, you can still have a walk through the forest (entrance is free), but instead I would recommend to visit the Kōdaiji Temple. Besides the beautiful temple, you can also find a bamboo forest there. It‘s not as known and therefore not as busy.
