A raised a warrior

It has been about 3 weeks since Freida went for her op. We’ve also start using it. It has been a crazy couple of weeks, a supposedly 1 week stay became 2 weeks because Freida caught some viruses and had high fever for a couple of days.

My staycation with her was also extended as a result because daddy got hfmd!!! We were so worried that he might have passed it to her because one of the virus she caught was known to cause hfmd too. Thankfully she did not. After discharge, I continue to single parent with the help of my mum and helper but of course, it wasn’t easy when the learning curve of caring for her button was new. We had to feed her via a pump to ensure she had sufficient intake while her stomach is not distended.

I only got to have a short breather in the recent weekend that passed but feel like I’ve not repaid my sleep debt.

Anyway, I really raised a very resilience and tough young lady here. She’s barely 2 and has gone through 2 GA surgeries (1 each year). This one was a major one which gave me a lot of anxiety. I mean A LOT because I heard from another mummy in 1 of the support group that we were in that the surgeon assigned to Freida also did the same surgical procedure for her daughter about 2-3 years ago and it wasn’t nicely done. The mother actually went to another hospital to seek second opinion and touch up. So scary to hear this and know that the surgeon might potentially do a bad job for your child. I asked a lot of questions during pre-surgery consultation but as all procedures, there’s risks. We took it and it really made me more anxious just as I said bye to Freida when they wheel her into the OT and while waiting for her surgery to be done. I eventually broke down while updating my mother about it because she started crying about her heart ache for Freida and having to go through all of these…

The surgery was successful and so far all is alright. We are very happy to bid the NGT goodbye, finally!!
