I think we’ve taken “bloating is common but not normal” to the extreme.

It’s totally normal for your stomach to expand after eating! You’re going to be more bloated at the end of the day than in the morning because you’ve been eating. THAT’S NORMAL.

The bloating that is not normal is the painful, uncomfortable bloating where you look 4 months pregnant. That kind of bloating sucks & I hate how it feels! That is your body telling you things aren’t digesting well & a lot of gas is being produced.

Luckily there are things you can do to help reduce the not normal, uncomfortable bloating. Here are some tips:

• take deep breaths before eating, eat slowly, & actually chewing your food (be mindful, don’t inhale)

• walking & stretching after meals to kickstart digestion. Good stretches to do are child’s pose, knees to chest, legs up on the wall, cat-cow, downward dog

• eat 30g of fiber daily! Fiber keeps your gut happy & can keep you regular to reduce bloating

• manage stress & anxiety! The days I’m stressed & anxious are the days my stomach hurts the most. I try to remember to take deep belly breaths & be mindful of my emotions

BONUS: don’t chew gum (adds extra air to your stomach)
