I tried Yuzu Pork Tonkatsu in SG! Worth a Try?

My first time hearing of “Yuzu Tonkatsu” and was pretty surprised by the name. Apparently the pigs are fed with feed that contains Yuzu which results in the name, and the taste profile of their meat as a result.

🌟 The overall flavour, tenderness and aroma indeed shown through, was juicy even after a while!

🍛 Yuzu Hire Katsu Kuro Kare Set

We ordered the Yuzu Hire with Charcoal Black Curry Rice to try out. It tastes exactly like a normal curry rice but which some cheese in it! Not too bad as a comforting set. Each set comes with free flow rice and cabbage so feel free to top it up! 😮‍💨

🍚 Miso Yuzu Rosu Katsu Set

As a comparison, we tried the Yuzu Rosu (Pork Loin) together with the miso sauce.

The hire (Pork Fillet) we had with the curry is a leaner cut of meat, which was a little tough - would be better to get this option, the Rosu (Pork Loin) so it’s more tender and moist. 🫡

We also tried adding Salmon Fry (+$4) as a side dish and I really love it! Was very TENDER, not dry at all! 👍🏻

💭 Overall, yes worth a try! I think the taste although not prominently different but there flavour does shone through at some point. Nonetheless, worth a try at least once. They have a couple of outlets and the outlet I visited at 313 Somerset Basement is really convenient - I would definitely see myself patronising again for the Tonkatsu! ✨
