Honest Thoughts on Keong Siak Bakery’s Latest Shop

Keong Siak Bakery is definitely not a new name to many Singaporeans. Being a brand that has a pretty large fanbase, their quality of pastries has been proved with time. They were successful at their outlets in Keong Siak Road, Holland Village and has recently opened a new outlet near East of Singapore in Bendemeer! But honestly is their latest outlet really worth a go…?

🏠 Store design

What caught my eye when I first entered was definitely the store layout. I thought the pastry display was really quite unique, we could walk up-close to the each pastry and I felt like I was seeing an exhibition while deciding which pastry I would like to order for today. However, seeing almost 1/2 of the pastries with the “sold out” sign was pretty sad. *laugh

☕️ Food/pastries/cakes

We arrived at almost 4pm on a weekday, so I guess can’t blame some stuff for selling out. But honestly it would have been better if they could increase the quantity for the famous ones like their Kouign-Amann which I overheard will sell out before 12pm??? 🫤

Their last order for actual food like sandwiches, mac & cheese etc. was 4pm, and the staff was really nice to make us an Ebi Sando. I actually really love every bit of the sandwich, except the amount of Mayonnaise inside can really be cut down. It was soooo jialet with the sauce 🫠, overpowering the ebi patty and bread that was already pretty good on its own.

Would recommend the Pandan Flan that we had though - that was great! Their Crolls looked fantastic as well, like the pistachio one HEART, a pity that was sold out too.

🥛 Drinks

The iced matcha latte my friend ordered was so powdery, and tasted a little weird too (?). 😞 Perhaps they made it in a rush, or maybe the powder to water or milk ratio was just off that day. The Yuan Yang cold brew I had was pretty good though, taste and sweetness was just right - would recommend this instead! 👍🏻

💭 Overall, I would probably not make a revisit to this outlet. In my memory, the outlet at Holland Village was so much better in terms of availability of pastries. However, I would give it to them that it may be because they just recently opened so they are in the midst of streamlining everything? Well I do hope they improve though, with a huge fanbase for their pastries, this kind of quality and situation may just turn more people away in time to come. So do think twice about visiting this outlet for now. :’)

➡️ Last thoughts: I was researching and realised you could do preorder at least 2 days, so you may wish to do that so you won’t be disappointed when you’re there!
