We're so used to surrounding ourselves with people daily or perhaps on social media that it seems that everyone's lives are so happening. So when we are alone, we tend to feel self-conscious.
But being in moments of solitude is important as you get to understand more about yourself.
Here are some ways to start getting comfortable being alone!
1) Changing your mindset
People who pursue solitude of their own volition “tend to report that it feels full — like they’re full of ideas or thoughts or things to do,” Dr. Thomas said. In this way, it’s distinct from loneliness, a negative state in which you’re “disconnected from other people, and it feels empty.”
The key is to see solitude as a choice, not a punishment.
2) Take it easy
Start choosing to do things alone intentionally. You could start with having a meal alone at somewhere you're familiar with. And try not to use your phone while doing so, allowing yourself to be present.
Journaling helps, too, as you're allowing yourself to be in your own thoughts away from distractions.
