Quick brunch at Lola’s!

Heyyo wassup homies it’s chiobu here. Neko and I went for brunch at Lola’s @ Holland V yesterday after I went for yoga and it was pretty good! 😁

We walked in at 10am on a Saturday without a reservation and waited for around 15 minutes to get a seat. Our second time there and it won’t be our last, we’ll try the dinner items there next time ☺️ and will also wanna try the desserts esp the black sesame one!!

Would recommend:

💗 Shakshuka ($16) + Pork sausage ($3)

What is Shakshuka? It’s poached eggs with a tomato sauce with lotsa palatable vegetables e.g. bell peppers and onions :) I added the pork sausage bc I love meat! And the dish came with lightly toasted sourdough bread (which was so delicious, not hard at all)! I’ve tried Shakshuka at a few places and this is one of the better ones ☺️ love the richness of the sauce and how well everything went together. Portion was pretty big as well.. I think two ppl can eat this!

💗 Spicy crab rigatoni ($20)

Sooo many cafes sell crabmeat pasta but this is pretty good! Generous portion of crabmeat with a very consistent and well balanced sauce. Love that the rigatoni catches the sauce well too (unlike spaghetti cuz sometimes the sauce just slips off).

We tried the crab cake benedict ($20) the other time and it was pretty average.. won’t recommend that!

❗️Note that there is a dining time limit of about an hour or an hour and a half (iirc)

❗️Note that it can get pretty noisy inside the cafe (the sound bounces off the walls). Tables are also placed quite close to one another so if you’re looking for a very private space this is not for you :)
