Relationship Hot Take: Get a New Place Together

I feel like a lot of people (myself included) end up moving their partner into their apartment. Or which ever apartment makes the most logistical sense.

I get it, we did it, but it kind of sucked.

My husband complained that this was a place I'd had people from my past in, it didnt have good energy. Not to mention it was filled to the brim with my stuff. Making room for him was HARD and he felt like he was trying to wedge himself into a space that didn't belong to him. I did my best but he was right, it wasn't OUR space.

So 6 months after he moved in we broke my lease and GTFO for somewhere new. It was so nice to get a place we could call our own. We both purged and brought only what made sense for our new life together and got lots of new stuff. It was such a nice new beginning and when we think of the time that we moved in together we think about when we finally got our own place as our start.

I know this isn't always practical, but if you have the means to do it, I highly enocurage it. Often were holding on to old spaces for the wrong reasons and don't realize how wonderful this new change together will be.
