Let me start by saying, I have no idea how women get in the best shape of their lives for their weddings. I actually think I was in the worst shape of my life on my wedding day. The entire summer leading up to it was filled with planning the wedding, not working out. I think as a bride it’s important to remember that YOU are your wedding body and starving/killing yourself to look a certain way for one day isn’t going to bring you happiness. Marrying the person of your dreams surrounded by family and friends and how you FEEL is going to bring you the most joy.
That said, I was able to fall back on the consistency I’d developed over the last 10 years of working out and some strategic workouts to make sure I was happy with how I looked on my wedding day.
My priorities were my arms, shoulders and back. They’re the parts that show in a wedding dress! I tried to workout 3x a week in the months leading up to my wedding.
Day 1: Back and Biceps
Deadlifts
Bent Over Rows
Chin-ups
Day 2: Triceps and Shoulders
Overhead Presses
Snatches
Turkish Get-ups
Push-ups
Pull-ups
Day 3: Arms & Conditioning
Kettlebell Swings
Goblet Squats
Push-ups
I tried to keep all workouts short and sweet. Sticking to simple EMOMs and supersets, and making sure workouts were only 45 minutes or less. In the 2 weeks before the wedding I also did pull-ups everyday just to lock in the guns!
