Married in 9 months?!

My husband and I didn’t share with our colleagues and relatives on the duration of our courtship. Only our families and close friends were aware that we got married after 9 months of courtship.

Why did we choose to remain vague about the duration of our courtship?

1) We had met on an online dating platform (shoutout to CMB!)

2) We didn’t want to invite any unnecessary gossip

We felt there was an unspoken stigma about getting married under a year of courtship. Especially if we had met through a dating app and didn’t have a longer period of friendship compared to other couples. In addition, some might speculate it was a shotgun wedding.

Interestingly, both my husband and I felt we were “The One” after our third date. I was pleasantly surprised as I’ve always thought I’d know after a year or two of dating. I guess we’d never know how life turns out!

After 4 months of dating, we started our wedding preparations. I’m excited to talk about the wedding preparations and will do so in upcoming posts. So stay tuned!
