Hello, Lemon8 community! I’m so excited to join this app and start sharing with everyone. The timing feels perfect because I’ve recently started what I’m calling my GYST year!

1. What is a GYST?
.
GYST stands for “Get Your Sh*t Together”. It’s an opportunity and a challenge to bring a brief, intense focus to the areas of your life that deserve the most attention, like wellness or finances.

I’ve been using GYST days for a few years now to plan and execute resets of my work, home, health, and more. My GYST day might include deep cleaning, long term planning, self care, etc.
.
For me, a GYST day is different from a weekly reset. It’s not about maintenance, but about change, and it’s not part of my regular routine, but something that I schedule as needed.

2. Why 12 months?
.
As I’ve already said, I’ve been using GYST days for years to periodically reset different areas of my life. But I recently experienced a major (positive!) life change, and decided it was time to stop dreaming about my best life and start living it. I’m finally ready to commit to long-term, large-scale change!

I’ve learned from experience that short-term effort yields short-term results. Especially as a neurodivergent person, it’s essential for me to focus on one goal at a time and stick with it for a while if I want it to last.
.
I’ve chosen to focus on one area each month for the next 12 months, and I’ve identified 4-5 goals within each area that I think I can accomplish within that time frame. This is going to add up to a whole new lifestyle by the end of the year!

My monthly area of focus are:

- Self Care & Beauty
- Fashion
- Hobbies
- Digital Footprint
- Planning & Journaling
- Nutrition
- Housekeeping
- Gardening
- Social Life
- Travel
