Here are my GO-TO apps that I use to transfer money overseas:

1) Wise

Linked with VISA

✔️ 50 currencies available

✔️ Used for both DIGITAL and PHYSICAL payments (with their physical card)

✔️ RECEIVE payments in 9 currencies (GBP, EUR, USD, AUD, NZD, SGD, CAD, HUF, TRY)

✔️ SEND money to 77 countries (e.g. Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Germany)

✔️ Regulated by the Money Authority of Singapore (MAS)

✔️ Transaction fees depend on the amount, currency you’re sending money to and payment method

✔️ NO hidden and subscription fees

✔️ Top-up manually using bank transfer or PayNow

Wise card (for spending abroad):

- Pay S$9 for a Wise card

- Used as a debit card

- Withdraw money from 2.3mil overseas ATMs

- Make 2 withdrawals of up to S$350 / month for FREE per account. After that, S$1.50 per withdrawal

- 1.75% of amount for withdrawals over S$350

- Tap or swipe anywhere (and use Google Pay & Apple Pay in supported countries)

E.g. of fees: S$1.69 to send S$22 to KRW, S$0.50 to send S$22 to MYR, S$2.51 to send S$22 to JPY

👍🏻 Physical travel card available

👍🏻 Lower withdrawal fee for small sum of money as compared to YouTrip (flat rate S$5)

🚩 Need pay for card

🚩 If key in wrong recipient details, money gets stuck for a long time

*I use Wise a lot to send money to Korean sellers

2)YouTrip

Linked with Mastercard, Co-branded with EZ-Link

✔️ 150+ currencies available

✔️ Used for both DIGITAL and PHYSICAL payments (with their physical card)

✔️ SEND money through 10 wallet currencies

✔️ NO transaction, platform or subscription fees

✔️ Top up using PayNow (min. S$1) or any Singapore debit/credit card (min. S$20)

✔️ 24/7 in-app money changer for 10 currencies (see the best rates, lock them, make in-app exchanges)

✔️ Enjoy cashback with your favourite brands (e.g. Shopee, Lazada, foodpanda)

YouTrip card (for spending abroad):

- Card is FREE

- Used as a debit card

- Withdraw money from any overseas Mastercard, Maestro or Cirrus ATMs

- Withdraw money at a flat fee of S$5

👍🏻 Higher security (requires passcode)

👍🏻 Physical travel card available (free)

🚩 After topping up wallet, money gets stuck there, unable to send back to own bank

🚩 High withdrawal fee for small sum of money

*I always use YouTrip to buy goods from overseas shops (set Mastercard as payment method) as well as when traveling

3)Remitly

✔️ Used for DIGITAL payments only

✔️ SEND money to 145+ countries

✔️ NO transaction fees on your FIRST transfer

✔️ NO hidden and subscription fees

✔️ Transaction fees depend on the amount and transfer options you select (usually S$3.99)

✔️ Pay your transfer using debit/credit card such as Visa, Mastercard & Maestro

👍🏻 Good to transfer large sum of money for FIRST transfer (no fee)

👍🏻 Send to many countries

🚩 Troublesome to transfer money as need to use NRIC to verify identity

🚩 Higher transactions fees (e.g. S$7.99 to change S$100 to JPY in Remitly but S$2.91 to change S$100 to JPY in Wise)

*I used Remitly when I had to transfer S$500+ to overseas sellers. No fees were charged as it was my first transfer :)

All in all, all apps are good to transfer money overseas! 😊 It really depends on your preference and how much you're transferring/withdrawing.

P.S. I used POSB to make overseas transfers before cuz it claims there's $0 transfer fee. HOWEVERR, some overseas banks charge the recipient when you transfer to them so PLS BE CHECK & BE CAREFUL!!! I was charged ₩10,000 for every transfer to certain Korean banks 🥲🥲 Also I can't track my transfers and my transfers took pretty long... (longer than the 3 mentioned apps). So yea, I won't rec using POSB yea...
