HIDDEN GEM dessert spot better than ahchew 🍧

hi zesties! when we think of chinese dessert, ahchew is probably one of the first few that comes to mind right? would like to introduce another option which imo is waaay nicer and underrated!!!

Yat Ka Yan Dessert 一家人 only has one outlet located at Fortune Center (near bugis/bencoolen/dhoby) and their store interior has a vintage vibe to it with old school film posters’ feature wall to take photos if you’re keen! They also have alot of seats available so there was barely any waiting time. Some of their popular desserts would be: Durian Chendol, Yam Paste, Purple Rice with Ice Cream. Prices are also affordable, with most priced below $7 for quality desserts!

What we tried:

🍧 Purple rice with ice cream - perfect combination of warm purple rice with cold ice cream! makes it a creamy, velvety smooth dessert pick but with added texture of the purple rice grains that are cooked to perfection 💯

🍧 ice jelly passionfruit with soursop - a very refreshing option! generous portion of jelly and soursop, ice is also well-flavoured with slight sourness, yummy pick!

🍧 fresh mango sago with ice cream - in my previous visit, i’ve also tried this and i loved it!!! not too sweet or sour, lots of fresh mango in the bowl of goodness 😗 found myself reaching out for more of this amidst the other desserts 🤣
