This is a little guide for those who are looking to go for an overseas summer exchange! I am from SUSS but I guess it is a similar process for the other Unis as well. They have Overseas Winter School (OWS) too but I missed that.

Registration:

I started looking at the courses and schools at January and went for the Overseas Summer School (OSS) Fair held physically at the school. There were close to 10 Unis that were there to explain to us what courses they have, what fees/discounts are applicable and answer any questions we had.

I only started applying in March which was kinda late if you would like to get the early bird discount. I applied for the Korean Ceramics class at Ewha Women’s Uni and they needed some form that is signed by the school so that kinda delay the process. I almost missed the initial early bird discount but they extended the early bird deadline to the end of March.

Let me give me you a summary timeline as a checklist for things to do:

Jan: Attend OSS Fair at SUSS

Mar: Application (for early discounts)

End-Apr/Early-May: SUSS will reply and update your application process

Early-June: Receive update from Ewha on housing

Things you got to do for application:

1. Request for an official transcript from the Student Service

2. Sign the Learning Agreement document for Ewha

3. Get it co-sign by SUSS in-charge before sending to Ewha

4. Sign the Code of Conduct when you get the confirmation letter from Ewha

Advice for you guys would be to check your communicational channel on the Ewha’s application website from time to time. You don’t want to miss out anything and be sure to make your payment on time.

During the peak period of registration and when the deadlines are approaching, more alerts and notices will come out at SUSS e-services page about the OSS program. So do check that from time to time too. If you are unsure about anything, you can email either SUSS Global Programmes (ogp@suss.edu.sg) or EISC Ewha International Summer College (gosummer@ewha.ac.kr) to ask any queries.

Updates:

20th May: They release information and open sign-ups for the field trips to Blue House, DMZ, Baseball Game and Lotte World. The Global Programmes also email me to complete two courses on Canvas before I leave for the trip.

23rd May: Scoot change my flight!! My new landing time is 9:35pm, my original flight was supposed to be landing at 9am! I have to refund the whole flight, I am going to book Singapore Airlines instead. The check-in for Ewha iHouse ends at 7pm so I cannot be landing at 9pm.

27th May: Field Trips

Confirmation and payment of field trips. I applied for all 4, hope that there will be people that hangs out with me at the theme park…

Scoot is pissingg me offff! They changed my original direct flight from SIN to ICN to SIN-TPE-ICN! From landing at 9am to 9pm, the check-in timing ends at 7pm! So I changed my flight to SQ, going back to my Uncle SIA! I managed to book Business Class tickets to Seoul using my miles and $93!!

One more month to my summer exchange! Let me know if you guys have any questions! I was going to post just one single post but I realise this is going to be a series.
