Here’s my template for success for your next tinned fish board. This also works if you want to sub cheese or charcuterie for the fish.
1️⃣ Tinned Fish - Start with 1 tin per person for a snack or appetizer. Increase to 2 tins per person for a meal. I recommend a variety of textures and different types of fish and shellfish. I used sardines and tuna here, but feel free to mix and match.
2️⃣ Condiments - Grab what’s in your fridge to dress up your fish. I love adding something acidic like vinegar-based hot sauce, pickled things, or just some slices of lemon. Spicy foods also go super well with fish to add interest and cut through the richness.
3️⃣ Carbs - Bread, crackers, chips! Anything you want that can be a vessel between the fish and your mouth is valid here. I like crunchy and crisp textures to contrast the softer fish.
4️⃣ Creamy Cooling Things - Just in case it gets a little too spicy, I like to add something creamy like creme fraiche, sour cream, or soft cheese to tone it down.
