Japanese Traditional Ryokan

The best experience I had on my Japan trip, is staying at a ryokan.

A ryokan (旅館) is a type of traditional Japanese inn that typically features tatami-matted rooms, communal baths, and other public areas where visitors may wear yukata and talk with the owner.

Our ryokan was located in central Kyoto, walking distance from everything you might want to see. That is, if you ever want to leave the ryokan, it’s just that good.

The room is $320, and that includes the stay and food. As well as the tea ceremony, that they offer 3x a week, make sure you double check the dates!

The ceremony is held in their private garden, and is so personal.

The dinner and breakfast exceed any expectations I could have had, it was kaiseki style.

Kaiseki (懐石) is a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner. The term also refers to the collection of skills and techniques that allow the preparation of such meals and is analogous to Western haute cuisine.

The meal included sushi, wagashi, miso fish and much more. Breakfast was similar, with fish as well, which was unique but amazing!

I wanted to stay here forever, I recommend everyone come to this ryokan when in Japan.
