Storytime: The Newborn Bat

I remember that one time that I stepped outside to take my dog on a walk. My dog went to sniff something but I guided him past it. At a quick glance, I thought I saw a bug and didn’t want him to eat it or anything. Plus I’m not a fan of bugs except ladybugs & butterflies.

On my way back, once my dog was back inside, I took a closer glance. To my surprise there was this winged creature. That’s when I realized it was a bat, but not anytime of bat - a newborn bat.

I was amazed because although I’ve seen bats at the zoo, I’ve never seen a newborn. On top of that, I realized I would most likely never see a bat so up close in my life. I was fascinated.

I was also concerned that this little creature could be attacked by another animal. I live in the suburbs where a lot of animals lived. I called up the police for animal control & an animal sanctuary but I was told just to leave it.

Although I don’t know what happened after I went to sleep, I like to believe the mother came back for it that night because it wasn’t there in the morning.

& that’s my encounter with Luna the Bat.
