how to practice mindful spending?

Just wanted to share two super simple ways I’ve been practicing #mindfulspending

1. Set Goals + Use Saving Pots!

how and why setting goals?

one way I stay on track is by using the saving pots feature that many banks offer.

For example, I’ve set a goal to save $7k for my 2025 travel adventures (started from Q2 2024), so I’m putting away around $1.1-1.2k per month into my savings account. But I don’t stop there! I also use saving pots to separate that money so it’s out of sight, out of mind.

This way, I can see what’s actually available for daily spending, and I’m less likely to touch the money I’m saving for trips or other goals. very mindful very demure HAHAHAHA

2. Track Your Spending!

Tracking your spending is such a game-changer 😭 when it comes to being more mindful of where your money goes. It helps you spot those unnecessary buys so you can cut back next month! For example, i realised i was spending abit too much on private transport hence i will set a budget for next month or remind myself to opt for public transport instead !

I’ve tried both tracking apps and my own custom sheets. Apps are awesome if you don’t want to bother creating a tracker from scratch and don’t mind using their pre-set designs and features. But if you love customizing things to your taste, platforms like Excel or Notion are perfect for creating your own spending tracker! Both are super flexible and powerful for whatever tracking style works for you
