I never imagined that I could one day tick item number 87 on the Rice Purity Test. But who would predict that they’d catch an STD?

How did I catch it in the first place?

To this day, I don’t know who I caught it from, or if I even caught it from one person, because you can catch STDs from mixing around with too many people. I did use condoms, and I still got unlucky, so bear in mind that condoms are definitely not 100% foolproof!

How did I realise I had it?

I developed yeast infections twice within a span of two months. The doctor informed me that recurring yeast infections could be a sign of a STD, particularly chlamydia and gonorrhoea. He referred me to The Artisan Health Clinic | Health Screening | STD Testing | HIV Testing Singapore.

The staff at Artisan were very friendly and warm. Perhaps they could sense how ashamed I was to be at a STD clinic 😭 The doctor especially was very kind. She patiently answered my numerous queries. Note! There are different tests for different STDs. As mine was likely chlamydia/gonorrhoea, I did a urine test, which tested for those two, and another four types of STDs.

Three days later, I received my results. I opened it on the school iMac 😮‍💨 My heart was pounding as I read:

Chlamydia - Negative

Gonorrhoea - Negative

Some random shit I’ve never heard of - Positive

Wah fuck my life sia, was my first thought. At that moment I hated myself so much. I felt dirty and disgusting.

But THANKFULLY, most STDs are curable! And easily too! Unless it’s AIDS, HBV, HIV, HPV, or herpes. Then I’m sorry to say I think you’re fucked ☹️

Treatment:

The next day I did my walk of shame back to Artisan to discuss my treatment plan. I was diagnosed with ureaplasma urealyticum. The doctor prescribed me two types of antibiotics. However, as antibiotics can cause yeast infections (because it kills off the good bacteria), she also prescribed me yeast infection medications, and probiotics.

Treatment lasted a total of two weeks. I had to abstain from sex for a month in total. I was unlucky AGAIN and kena yeast infection AGAIN but that was the least of my problems at that point.

Monetary damage?

I think I spent over 1K in total on all the doctor’s fees and medications. Definitely not my best moment.

Additional info I gained from this experience:

ꕥ Curable STDs can be treated using antibiotics (like mine). Others (e.g. gonorrhoea) are not as easy and are treated through injections

ꕥ I only found out about the STD because of the yeast infection. I had no symptoms at all other than the yeast infection. Apparently, some STDs can be dormant. Some people don’t find out they have one until YEARS later.

ꕥ If so, if I just never find out about my STD, then all’s good right? Nope. STDs can lead to fertility and other reproductive health related issues if not treated. It’s a silent killer!

I’m all good now and this was a very key learning experience for me. My main takeaways would be:

ꕥ If you’re a sexually active person (with multiple people), get tested. Even if there are no symptoms.

ꕥ If you do the crime, be prepared to do the time. My wallet and mental state paid the consequences of my actions. Be a whore only if you have the financial means to do so.

ꕥ Probiotics and antifungal creams and sprays are my best friends now. The probiotics I take come in a pill form and a powder form (I eat it straight from the packet because I’m lazy but you can mix it into a drink)

Lastly, if you ever test positive for an STD, please DO NOT feel ashamed! It is definitely more common than you think, and ANYONE can catch it. It can also be passed through kissing and for AIDS, through blood. That being said, you really do have to keep yourself safe. STDs are lurking and you don’t want them to catch you.

Stay safe sluts xo
