Should I...? If this is you thinking of NOT renting a car in Jeju or u simply can’t rent and hiring a private driver is just too expensive!!! READ ON to learn my experience without having a car during my trip🚘

NO CAR? NO PRIVATE DRIVER? there’s always public transport! and of course your legs😥 to navigate around Jeju through public transport , I used Naver map! (also used in Seoul)

Honestly, it was pretty tough getting around Jeju without a car… The long hours it takes to travel from one place to another is just a little tiring and tedious! especially if the places you’re planning to visit are along the sides of the island. Mainly, aesthetic cafes facing the sea, restaurants near the coast and the famous black pork kbbq place which is quite ulu…😮‍💨

Jeju itself is pretty big! apparently almost 2.5 times bigger than sg, so imagine needing to travel from one end of the island to another🫨🫨my hotel was at the opposite side of the island from the airport! we stayed at seogwipo area and by bus, we took about ~1.5h!

let me share a little about how my first day went at Jeju, just so you can kinda gauge the no. of activity you can do in a day! We landed in Jeju at around 8.30am so we started our day there! traveled to our hotel, checked in🏨 we explored the east side of the island! so we left for lunch at a abalone porridge restaurant by the sea🦪then headed to Sangumburi and explored the area till dinner time around 6/7+ 🌋finally headed for dinner at a black pork kbbq place 🐖and when we finally reach back our hotel it was nearly 10+

SO SHOULD YOU RENT A CAR?🚘 I would suggest to do so! I think traveling by public transport in Jeju is fine… the experience and scenery along the way is great too! BUT I would suggest to do up a simple itinerary to plan (esp if you’re not the kind to plan😳)and search up how long it takes to get from one place to another! if most of the places you would like to visit is nearer to the seaside, you might have to do quite a bit of walking!🚶🏻‍♀️so wear comfy shoes!

OH and honestly I got lost taking the public transport… the app is not super duper reliable i guess🥲but if you do so, just download kakao taxi and book a taxi😅

ALL IN ALL, it’s fine to travel around Jeju without a car! and that shouldn’t limit you to NOT visit Jeju! I would definitely go back again but this time to travel around by car because it just shortens traveling time and would allow me to enjoy Jeju more!🤪
