When you're moving to a new place

I've moved almost 20 times in my life and have uprooted to a new state ot country almost 10 times.

It was therefore always really important to find a new church family. So these are my tips if youre moving to a new place but don't know how to find a new place to worship on Sunday. If you aren't religious however, these tips can be helpful if you're simply trying to find a new (organized) community. 😊

1) Figure out their LOCATION

Where do you live or intend to move? Start by trying to find a church in that area.

2) When do they GATHER?

What time and day of week to they worship or study? Make sure your schedules don't clash.

3) What is their IDEOLOGY?

Are they preaching from the Bible? Do they use other texts? Is it all milk and no meat?

4) What does their CONGREGATION look like?

Meaning, is it all people of one type? Are there any people in your phase of life?

5) How do they practice HOSPITALITY?

I find this to be one of the most instructive ways to determine the health of a church. Are they welcoming? Do they greet you and talk to you when you come in and after service? (Do they invite you to a meal? Or out to coffee?) How the congregation treats new people is an indication of whether they are stagnant or trying to be salt and light.
