A Wife with a Football 🏈 Husband

Okay, let me start by saying I don't hate sports—I’m just trying to ease my way into them. For the longest time, it was a bit of a problem in our relationship because I didn’t understand why we were dedicating *so* much time and energy to it. I’d be like, “It’s just one game, right?” But then there’s the commentary, the pregame, the postgame analysis, the endless Twitter rants—it was a lot! I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.

Now, full disclosure: I was born in Boston, so yes, I’m a Boston fan, and when Tom Brady hits the screen, you *know* I’m watching! But my husband? He’s into *all* sports. He’s also made an effort to consider my feelings during these sports marathons and gently reminded me that supporting each other’s interests goes both ways. So, I had to check myself—stop being selfish and a little bit mean about it.

We’ve since found a happy middle ground. We started doing football Sundays as dates, hitting up sports bars together. If we’re at home, he uses commercial breaks to cater to me a little, and he's even started teaching me more about the game (slowly but surely, I’m catching on!). It’s still a lot at times, but it’s working for us.

So, ladies, for those of you with sports-obsessed men, any tips on how to survive and maybe even enjoy this? And yes, I’ll definitely be back for basketball season, because he’s into *everything* 🏀🏈!
