Okay, let me start by saying I don't hate sportsโIโm just trying to ease my way into them. For the longest time, it was a bit of a problem in our relationship because I didnโt understand why we were dedicating *so* much time and energy to it. Iโd be like, โItโs just one game, right?โ But then thereโs the commentary, the pregame, the postgame analysis, the endless Twitter rantsโit was a lot! I couldnโt help but roll my eyes.
Now, full disclosure: I was born in Boston, so yes, Iโm a Boston fan, and when Tom Brady hits the screen, you *know* Iโm watching! But my husband? Heโs into *all* sports. Heโs also made an effort to consider my feelings during these sports marathons and gently reminded me that supporting each otherโs interests goes both ways. So, I had to check myselfโstop being selfish and a little bit mean about it.
Weโve since found a happy middle ground. We started doing football Sundays as dates, hitting up sports bars together. If weโre at home, he uses commercial breaks to cater to me a little, and he's even started teaching me more about the game (slowly but surely, Iโm catching on!). Itโs still a lot at times, but itโs working for us.
So, ladies, for those of you with sports-obsessed men, any tips on how to survive and maybe even enjoy this? And yes, Iโll definitely be back for basketball season, because heโs into *everything* ๐๐!
