POPULAR CANTONESE RESTAURANT - $500+?? WORTH? 🥸🤔

Intro : "Established in 1988, our award-winning Wah Lok Cantonese Restaurant has continually been applauded as Singapore Tatler magazine's “Singapore’s Best Restaurants” since 1991 and “Singapore’s Top Restaurants” by Wine & Dine magazine since 1997."

Recently ive tried this popular cantonese restaurant but bc of its cny menu, the number of items on the dimsum list have decreased significantly! We ordered everything on the dimsum menu and here are what i like the most :

🥟 Bolo BBQ pork bun - v tasty! a must get

🥟chicken feet - not bad!!

🥟 beancurd skinroll prawn

the rest werent bad, but nth special to me! i actually found the dimsum affordable at $7-$9 for 3-4 pieces.

Moving on to the ala-carte dish, we ordered ALOTTT but heres my cherry-picked favourites that are actually worth your money!

👍🏻 roasted duck - this was soo sooo good. loved it and at $32 for the price point, i found it extremely worth it!

👍🏻salad prawn - done beautifully as well but on the expensive side. $42

👍🏻bamboo clam w garlic $16 i loved the sauce and the intense amount of garlic but i didnt like how there was no 冬粉 which is v crucial in this dish for me. not v worth it for the price point but it did tasted good.

👍🏻sauteed scallops (2) w egg whites n truffle sauce

egg whites were surprisingly good and the truffle was just yummy but not over or underwhelming $16

items i do NOT recommend ordering :

👎🏻smoked chicken- tasted so avg i cant even sya it was good.. $30

👎🏻cod fish - i love cod fish but the amt was too toooooooo little to justify the price tag ($18) also i didnt like the bbq sauce that was coating it

👎🏻👎🏻 wagyu beef ($40) for $40, the portion was just PATHETIC. LIKE RLY NTH ELSE TO SAY OOPS N IT WASNT EVEN AMAZING. So average save ur money.

👎🏻 soup of the day - some lotus soup which was well loved by everyone but the price ($52) was too high for its ingredients given. it was mostly just lotus n no meat so like why $52?!?

overall, the food at Wah Lok is definitely of good standard n quality but the prices are too exorbitant for some dishes which didnt really make sense to me. There are definitely a few hits n misses but generally more hits than misses!! I found the dimsum extremely worth the price as well as the duck, but for the rest of the dishes i guess its a place for the wealthy to blow their cash!! 🥸🥸🥸
