Do you miss the friends you have lost?

Aren’t there just some days where a certain someone pop into your mind and you just keep smiling because of all the memories you had with them? Be it the good or bad ones, you just loved the person you are with them.

The nostalgic feeling resurfaced, and you just let yourself take in all the bittersweet feelings you have felt many years back. You just miss them so much, and also thinking “why didn’t I cherish that moment better?” “I could have spent more time with them, if I knew they are not going to be my friend anymore in the future”

🥺 The fact is, not all friends are meant to be in our life at every single stage. As years go by, priorities change. They go to university, while you have to work. They have their own families and have their children.

Some cliques just naturally became obsolete, and we are all no longer in the school/work environment, nobody makes the effort to ask everyone out for a simple dinner, where it comes so easy in the past, where one person suggests to eat and everyone readily agrees. Now, even if someone asks, it is full of reasons like “oh I’m not free this entire month”, “I got to take care of my dog, I can’t meet”. etc

✨Adult friendships are all about putting in the effort, it’s not like when we are studying, it just come so easy, like all you had to do it open your mouth and ask, and you guys will just hang out.

🧠“Choose people who will choose you.” This is a quote I saw often. This will become more apparent as you start to work and your friends start drifting apart, it is easy to tell who chooses to stay friends with you and constantly chose to be in your life. Those friends who are not meant to stay, will just disappear from your life.

Of course, there are friends who will come out and meet you no matter when you ask them to, like they are just ready for you. But how do you decipher this friendship if you are the one initiating all the time? If I just stop asking one day, will the person just leave me alone like I’m a stranger?

🚲 Stop chasing after those who do not make effort for you. Choose people who will choose you. Value yourself more and people will start to see the value in you.

💛 Let’s stop begging for the love we deserve and cherish the person who comes along who love you for who you are. Even if it means we are alone at the moment. Keep the faith 💕
