For context, I work as a video editor and spend 99% of my time using my mouse. I’ve been using the most basic mouse ever for the longest time so I was in desperate need for an upgrade!
So 11.11 came and went, and I used that opportunity to snag the ✨ Logitech MX Vertical Mouse ✨! Here’s my review!
🐭 Features:
- Wireless connection
- 57 degree vertical angle
- Textured material for solid grip
- Can link up and switch between maximum 3 devices (via USB-C charging cable, Logitech Unifying Receiver, or Bluetooth)
- 4 additional and customisable buttons
- Premium scroll wheel (extra scroll precision)
- Better mouse sensitivity for less hand movement
- Drop resistant (from up to 90cm from the ground!)
🤔 How is it ergonomic?
- The vertical angle of the mouse let’s your wrists and hand rest at a natural angle so there is less strain on your wrist
- The increased mouse sensitivity also helps lessen stress on the wrist bc of the reduced hand movement
🤩 How does it increase productivity?
- Honestly, I only got the mouse for the ergonomic aspect. But when I found out all the things it could do, it made the mouse SUPER worth the money!
- You can customise actions for the side and middle buttons using the Logitech Options+ app.
- E.g. for premiere pro, I made the side buttons “copy” and “paste”, while I set the middle button as a hot key for my razor tool!
- There have been times I need to copy and paste multiple things one at a time which can get insanely tedious. Now I don’t even need to use my other hand (on the keyboard) to carry the task out!
- Another e.g. for Chrome, I set the side buttons as forward and back buttons, and the middle button as a refresh button.
- What’s even cooler is that depending on the software you’re setting the button actions for, Logitech’s app can recommend you software specific short cuts/hot keys 🤩 (e.g. the app recommends things like “go to next/previous frame”, “start/pause playback”, “razor tool” for premiere pro)
- Another cool feature is their Smart Actions feature!
- The feature allows you to perform multiple actions (that usually require you to hit multiple keys) with pressing just one button. 🤯
- Options+ has some templates you can use for apps like Slack, Zoom, etc, but you can also create custom smart actions for your personal needs! (Imagine the possibilities 😳)
❌ Cons/Drawbacks
- The mouse takes some time to get used to. Honestly, the first time I used it, I felt really uncomfortable and was second guessing whether I made the right investment… but after a few days, using the mouse has become so natural for me!
- The mouse is only built for medium to large hands. I would say my hand size lies somewhere just below medium, so the mouse can feel a bit big for me. LUCKILY, If you have small hands, Logitech has a smaller vertical mouse called Lift Vertical which has pretty much the same features.
💭 Final thoughts
- Overall, I quite like the ergonomics of the mouse and I feel like this would save my wrist in the long run. Now when I go back to a normal mouse, it just doesn’t feel as great anymore 🤷🏻♀️
- It’s definitely not a cheap mouse, but I think it’s worth the investment (thankfully for small hand people, Logitech’s Lift mouse is cheaper 👀)
⭐️ I WOULD RECOMMEND this to people who:
— Spend most time on their desk + using a mouse
— Want to speed up their work
— Have weak joints
Does anyone use a vertical mouse and can attest to how much it’s changed your life (and do you have other brands to recommend)? OR do you think it’s completely unnecessary 🤔🤔 let me know!!
