Try these when you’re in McDonald’s Japan!! 🍔🇯🇵🤩

My partner loves his McSpicy and is always down for a macs supper. So obviously we had to have a taste of McDonald’s when we were in Japan! Here’s our review and what we think is worth getting:

👀 FIRST IMPRESSIONS

- Their menu is really really extensive!! I had some trouble deciding what I wanted 😭

- Their prices were just slightly cheaper than SG which was refreshing bc everything in Japan is really ex/same price as SG. So if you want a slightly more affordable meal, you know where to go!

- The menu where we were at was in Japanese so we referred to the McDonald’s Japan website for their menu before ordering.

🍔 CHEESE TERITAMA (Teriyaki + Egg) BURGER

- 💸 Cost: ¥740 for set meal with fries and drink (~SGD7.40)

- ⭐️ Rating: 5/5

- The cheese and egg go well with the teriyaki sauce!

- Also egg in a non-breakfast menu burger? Sign me up…

- Mouth full of flavour and sauce in every bite

- Seasonal menu item for Spring/Sakura season. So if you’re in Japan this month, go try it!! If not fingers crossed they have it again next year 🤞🏼

🍔 BACON LETTUCE BURGER

- 💸 Cost: ¥680 for set meal with fries and drink (~SGD6.80)

- ⭐️ Rating: 4/5

- I had to try a bacon menu item since we don’t have one here in sg!

- It’s a simple burger with minimal ingredients and also no sauce?? Haha reminds me of our classic burgers in SG like the chicken burger or cheese burger

- Still enjoyed the flavour and the bacon tasted pretty legit!

- -1 for the lack of sauce 🥹

- Their bacon menu is extensiveee so give them a try!!

🥤EARL GREY ICE LEMON TEA

- ⭐️ Rating: 5/5

- LOVE!! Not something you get in SG. Super refreshing compared to the usual green tea and ice lemon tea.

- Reminds me of the mos burger milk tea bc you get a little cup of something to pour into your drink

- You get a small cup of “gum syrup” which is sugar syrup, and a small cup of “liquid lemon” which is lemon juice

- Without them the earl grey tea doesn’t have much of a taste (which is usually the case for ice cold teas!)

- You can add as much syrup and lemon to your liking! Personally didn’t add any sugar syrup cus I like it that way. So much better than the teas in SG that are really sweet 😖

- Really addictive! Was sippin it all up even tho it was pretty chilly in Japan

🍟 FRENCH FRIES

- ⭐️ Rating: 4/5

- Bruh… these fries… really crispy exterior and soft fluffy interior

- Very little soggy fries which was a plus for me!

- WELL seasoned. HAHA like a bit toooo well. It was pretty salty (-1 for that!). But if that’s your jam then this is amazing!!

- My partner and I couldn’t stop eating them once we started (probably cus so salty which = super tasty)😮‍💨 thank goodness for my earl grey tea

- The ketchup came in little tubs like the ones our curry/bbq sauces come in

- Ketchup was extra tangy and flavourful! Yumzz

🍦 WAFFLE CONE WITH CHOCOLATE & ALMOND ICE CREAM

- 💸 Cost: ¥240 (~SGD2.40)

- ⭐️ Rating: 4/5

- Something pretty different from what we have in SG. Kind of reminds me of Cornetto!

- Overall yummy waffle cone, crunchy almonds, and yummy standard McDonald’s vanilla ice cream

- Just wish there was more chocolate and almonds to go around 🥹

- Did the fries + vanilla ice cream test and wow… superior… like in SG, this combo is pretty bland. Maybe it’s the salty fries but the combo in JP goes hardddd 🤤

🥧 STRAWBERRY DAIFUKI PIE

- 💸 Cost: ¥160 (~SGD1.60)

- ⭐️ Rating: 5/5

- When we ordered this, the staff told us we made a good choice. It’s her favourite dessert hahaha

- She was not lying. It was really good!

- Pie crust was crispy and warm (almost too hot) as always

- You get a good mix of strawberry jam, MOCHI and red azuki beans!!

- The mochi was super yumzzz

- I know strawberry jam and/or red beans might not be everyone’s thing. But if it’s yours, defo try this one out!

- Also another seasonal item so get it if you’re gonna be in Japan around this period or hope they bring this back next year 🙏🏼

💭 FINAL THOUGHTS

- Not sure if it’s the travel high or the hunger from a long day of walking but I thoroughly enjoyed my macs experience in Japan 💞

- Another factor that probably came into play was how the particular outlet we were at was pretty quiet and cozy! We were seated on the second floor facing a big window with the view of the street so the vibes were 💯

- Despite having McDonald’s in sg, the difference in their menus across borders is 100% gonna make me visit their restaurants while overseas. In fact I’d probably visit again in my next trip to Japan to try something else on their menu!

- I also saw that they will be releasing new menu items on 26th April that look so good?? Like hello sg macs keep 👏 up 👏

- So yes, defo worth a visit if you haven’t already tried macs in Japan!!
