Levelling up to parenthood 💗

Hey there, zesties! I'm excited to share a little snippet from my own journey into parenthood.

In Oct'23, as I glanced at that little positive sign on the pregnancy test, my heart raced with a mix of emotions - flustered yet overwhelmingly happy, nervous yet exhilarated. It was a moment that would change everything in the best possible way.

For a whole week, I held onto this secret, felt like I was bursting at the seams of anticipation. But not knowing what to do, and needed someone to be there with me.... I devised a surprise for my husband on our weekly date night. As we sat next to each other, I couldn't contain the excitement bubbling inside me. Shaking and with a racing heart, I shared the pregnancy kit and shared the news! The look of joy and shock on my husband's face was priceless. Frozen in time, I will never forget that moment.

Here's to the adventures that lie ahead, the challenges we'll face, and the countless memories we'll create along the way. Parenthood, here we come! ✨️

We both sat down and prepped ourselves with the following, which we both think will help if you are considering or planning to embark on this quest of parenthood.

♡ Financial Planning

No doubt, in Singapore, parenthood comes with a hefty share of expenses. Public or private hospitals will make a difference in your cash 💸 output. Thus, it is important to sit down with your another half to discuss the family's financial situation. From budgeting for baby gear to planning for childcare costs, open communication about finance is essential.

Most importantly, ask around! If you have friends giving birth at a public/private hospital recently, ask them how is it like. Their first-hand experience might give a better gauge on what you want and if you are willing to spend that money .

♡ Support System

Talk about your support system, family, friends, and any resources you can lean on during this challenging time. Having a strong support system in place can make all the difference.

I am thankful that my mother is willing to step up and take care of my little one until we are ready to part for preschool. It really takes a village to raise one child!!

♡ Relationship Dynamics

Things gonna shift, my dear. So, it's important to acknowledge that the relationship will shift while pregnant and with the arrival of the baby in 10 months' time. Talk about how both of you will make efforts to continue to nurture your relationship and make time for each other amidst the demand of parenthood.

For us, we agreed to do fortnight dates ~ & we have also discussed this with our parents, where they are and willing to help take care of the little one for the evening! Don't take the relationship between you and your partner for granted. Always take time to go for special dinner, weekend getaway, or simply heartfelt conversations. 💕

During this discussion, also talk about the little things like emotional/ hormone changes you will face upcoming and how both of you should handle this together.
