Hi guys! I wanted to share this recipe with yall. It's chili made with turkey meat, which is a great source of lean protein, especially when combined with beans!
of course, you can use fresh seasoning and garlic for this but... iykyk that's a bit expensive for some of us. so i just opt for the chili seasoning packets!
ingredients:
- crushed canned tomato (≈24oz)
- 2/3 green bell pepper (chopped)
-1/2 yellow onion (chopped)
-1.25 lbs ground turkey
-chili seasoning mix packet
-28oz chicken broth
-1 can dark red kidney beans
-1/2 lb frozen sweet corn (not pictured sorry)
directions:
1. preheat crockpot on high. set it to two hours.
2. brown turkey meat on stovetop. turn heat on about 4-6. when cooking turkey meat it is helpful to allow it to rest between mixing; allow meat to sit on pan for 2 ish minutes before touching it at first. Adding cooking oil to the pan is unnecessary if it is non-stick.
3. add chopped bell pepper and onion to the turkey. let that marinate together for about 4 minutes on a lower heat setting (2-4).
4. add all of the ingredients to the crockpot, including the vegetables, seasoning, meat, etc.
5. give it all a good mix and let sit until the timer goes off.
6. serve with cornbread, saltines, and/or cheese!
TIPS:
- add more or less broth to achieve the texture you want (more or less liquidy)
-store in the fridge for up to 5 days in an airtight container
-you can heat this up for later in the microwave or on the stovetop in a pan :)
