We have a relatively simple and clean kitchen sink set up but we recently decided to address 2 main pain points we were encountering to upgrade our Kitchen Sink User Experience!

First up was the sponge caddy. Our sponge caddy was from the brand Simple Human. We got it because we liked the slim profile and the sleek look! It was a little pricey for a sponge holder but it was really good quality and very solid construction. However, after using it for a year, we realized that it wasn’t the best for us. As our sink is right next to a wall, it doesn’t get a lot of air flow. Paired with the closed design, our sponges were not adequately drying out between uses, making the entire area ideal for mould growth. The caddy also easily trapped food particles which exacerbated the issue. Enter the humble $1.80 stainless steel wire style sponge holder! Air flow + no space for food to get trapped = no mould!

Next up is the dish soap dispenser! We have been reusing the Method Home dish soap bottle we got during our very first grocery shopping trip when we moved it. It did the job but we just got tired of having to use two hands if we wanted to pump soap onto our dish sponge. While stocking up on our scrub daddy sponges, I stumbled upon a store selling their soap dispenser and decided to go for it! It has a dual dispenser system so we can operate it one-handedly, either from the pump on the top or simply picking it up and squeezing to dispense from the bottom.

Really happy with these small changes that have made a big impact on our kitchen sink dish washing experience!
