Hidden Gem Butcher Shop, 5min walk from Kovan MRT!

I hosted some friends recently and needed to pick up a big cut of beef to cook for the party. I decided to look around on google maps for a specialty butcher that was closer as I had some time constraints and just didn’t feel like traveling too far. I located The Food Cellar which was very conveniently located just a 5 min walk away from Kovan mrt!

They don’t have much of an online presence and did not list what they stocked online so I decided to drop them a whatsapp message before heading down to confirm they had the cut I was looking for. They were very responsive over whatsapp and offered to reserve it for me. I went down to the shop to pick it up and the owner, Clement, was very friendly and easy to talk to! He took the initiative to ask how I planned to cook the beef and offered to both marinade and vacuum seal it for me as I was going to be cooking it sous vide.

The store offers a really wide range of meats (e.g. Rabbit, Venison, Quail) and also has some stock of sausages from Huber’s Butchery. The price points of everything are also very reasonable. I can’t emphasize how much I recommend this butcher if you are looking for one, esp if you stay in the serangoon/hougang/kovan area.
