pocket-friendly (~$6) authentic taiwanese food?!🧋🍗

if you didn't already know, i'm a HUGE FAN OF JAY CHOU 😍 and i was today years old when i found out that there's a jaychou-themed restaurant in singapore?!?! and this restaurant is also viral on tiktok?!?! WHAT AM I MISSING OUT ON 😱

named after his 3rd album, 八度空间 - this restaurant was created because the owner was a huge fan of his!! it serves authentic taiwanese food with a huge variety of options from rice bowls, noodles, vegetables, bubble tea, grass jelly desserts and even thick toasts 🍞🧋🍜🍗 and this quaint restaurant has 3 outlets: jalan besar, kovan and sembawang.

we were invited to visit the outlet at kovan and here's our review!

💭 thoughts: this definitely doesn't taste like the normal bbt we taste in those shops & it really felt authentic!! it was totally my cup of tea and i really loved it!!🤭🤍

💭 thoughts: my fiance thinks that it's a little too sweet for him even though it was already at 50% sugar level, so i guess only recommended to those with sweet tooth! 😅

🍜 chitterling & oyster mee sua

💭 thoughts: i love the chittering - YALL NEED TO TRY THIS. the superior noodle dish in taiwan of all time! but i felt like the meesua could have been softer instead of chewy, but that's personal preference 😅

🍚 pork belly rice

💭 thoughts: the pork belly rice is definitely a MUST-TRY as well, the sauce used to cook the pork belly was just nice - not too salty! 😍

🍄 marinated king oyster mushroom

💭 thoughts: this is the standard dish and we don't think that's ever a way for it to go wrong 😂 but $6 for a portion like this is quite expensive in our opinion! 🥲

🍗 salted chicken

💭 thoughts: THE MAIN HIGHLIGHT of the meal was definitely this. we love how it was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside & the flavouring was just right 💯 while it was salted, it's not too salty that leaves a dry feeling at your throat!

🛋 𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀:

we reached there at about 8pm and we were surprised to see that the place was about 90% full! because it was a relatively hidden place opposite the heartland mall, so we didn't think it'll be crowded but we saw families and friends having dinner there - so definitely a good place to have a meal! 👍🏻

it was a cosy space as well, with simple wooden furniture that honestly reminds me of the taiwan vibes. PLUS POINT - because they only play jaychou songs!!!!! 🫶🏻

so if you're a jaychou fan and you're missing him from his concert appearance last year, just go to this restaurant and fill the void for now 🤪 HAHAHA JK, but visit them because the food is REALLY AFFORDABLE + it's good too! 😍

also, this outlet was previously located in serangoon which was slightly less accessible, but now it's just 5 minutes walk away from kovan mrt!! 🥳

so if you're looking for a place to eat this weekend, either with your friends/family, at pocket-friendly prices, this is the perfect place to go! ☺️
