Some people think that the off-season for sports should be spent training extra hard as soon as you finish your season…. This is WRONG
Here’s how you should actually spend your off-season:
1. For the first 3 weeks after you finish your sports season, you need to let your body recover and rest. ⚡️ Light exercise during this time is fine, but my coach actually doesn’t have us workout because it’s so imperative to let your body heal.
2. Retouch with hobbies, or find a new one!
⚡️ the off season is a great time to get in touch with who you are outside of your sport
⚡️ read a book, learn a new skill
3. Once you start working out again, ease into it
⚡️ if you go too intensely too quickly, you can get injured and set yourself back
⚡️ focus on building a solid speed or endurance base
4. Work on your form
⚡️ changing your form is always going to feel so awkward at first. The best time to work on this is in the off season
5. LIFT
⚡️ once games or meets come around, it’s difficult to lift super heavy in fear of being sore on the big day.
⚡️ focus on building strength
6. Reflect on why you love the sport
⚡️ the off season is a time where the grind can sometimes seem never-ending
⚡️ get back in-touch with why you love your sport
7. Set goals
⚡️ set SMART goals (I made a post about this a while ago) to keep yourself on track and set yourself up for success during the season
