hello, i am jolyn on twitch, most people think my url is cool cause its so clean (twitch.tv/jolyn) 🎀

🤪 why i started: kinda feel like i repeated this story a bit too many times but i was feeling pretty bored and learnt of this website, thought id make friends on it so i started streaming ✍️

🫥 how was it: initially it was pretty fun, just 1 person would come by and talk to me 🤷‍♀️ then it just got more and more crowded. I particularly enjoyed my time under 10 viewers cause it was just so wholesome, everyone was like a part of my family (or i’m just delusional)

☹️ the journey: initially i just wanted to be ‘affiliated’ which is the status you get for being over 50 followers & 3 average viewers. You also start to get subscription money after achieving this status! Slightly after 6 months of streaming, I bought a custom PC so that i can play more games!

But over time i started to want to hit ‘partnered’. That’s when the stress kicks in, from analyzing my content to stream timing and duration, etc. I really really wanted my account to grow 📈📈 Partnered status requires 75 average viewers 💀

🥸 what content i stream: started as a variety streamer, i consistently go live 4 times a week (psycho i know) for about 4 hours each time, playing games, cooking, drawing, and IRL which is basically walking around outside with a camera.

During my IRL era, i did end up going to places that i thought were pretty interesting like a hot spring, ant museum, cat cafe, art exhibitions etc.

🤩 when did i get partnered: after a crazy 1.5 years with sweat, tears and one burnt out, i got that nice purple checkmark in 2021 ✅ life after that was almost the same? Except i’m now invited to the biannual partner events 😇 (see cover photo) I guess those are the highlights for me, I love meeting other streamers + free food

💰 everyone’s favourite question: how much can i earn from streaming? personally i dont ask for much donations cause it feels too disgusting 🤮 but during birthdays & christmas, my community would give me pocket money ✨ my biggest one time donation would be 400$ by someone who wanted to support my mural painting 🫶

🍂 these days as a retired streamer, i barely go live anymore 🤡 which makes me ask myself all that effort for what ??? perhaps in part 2 i’ll talk about why i quit? Let me know if you have other questions below 🫡
