this place probably needs no introduction & is 100% worth every hype!! 🤤 sososo comforting pork rice soup and one of my fav kimchis in sg (i can down 4 plates in one sitting) 🥬

out of the 2 soup options available i prefer the milky milyang-style ($21) with a rich bone broth and leaner/thinner—but still super tender—cuts of meat. if you like something more clean tasting, go for the busan-style ($21) that has thicker cuts of pork belly and is much lighter in flavour—though both types are very minimally seasoned, with mostly the natural taste of the broth coming through 👍🏻

this place is notoriously hard to get a table for, and you’ll have to enter the online queue at 10am sharp if you want to get a table. 🫣 good news is: if you’re waiting for your table, you can pop on over next door to White Shades for some good tea or pre-meal dessert while you wait! check out my post on white shades here🍨

but if you’re still using the old queuing link take note‼️that they’ve recently changed their booking system and that link won’t work anymore! find the ✨new✨link on their official website, just google “um yong baek” and click “website” to access their official site. enter the queue as usual by clicking the “queue” button—see the last slide for more details!

also, they’ll be opening a new second outlet at far east square (sometime in october 2023)👏🏻, very near to their original boon tat outlet; hopefully this will help to spread out the crowd & increase chances of getting a table faster! 🙏🏻
