I had my son three years ago and I have been trying the entire time to lose weight and get back to the shape that I was before I had my son. I’m now over 30 and I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to bounce back after giving birth. My hormones are all different than they used to be and my body responds differently to things. I lost weight once before in my early 20s and spent almost my entire 20s yo-yo dieting.
It was mental torture to be honest with you. I didn’t know that life could be anything other than tracking your calories eating healthy for a week or a couple of weeks and then breaking down eating my guilt foods. And feeling like crap afterwards.
I lived alive, thinking that I could literally never eat the things that I wanted because I had no self-control . Until a year ago I thought I’d never lose the weight then I became determined to figure out what was wrong.
I’m still on my way to my goal, but I want to tell you the main things that help me lose weight without losing my mind .
Here are the things that helped and continue to work!
- I stopped taking Zoloft (with doctor supervision)
- I read The thin woman’s Brain on audio book
This helped me to realize I can eat whatever I want and the way I was eating was causing me to gain weight and keep it on.
- I stopped making myself feel guilty for eating.
- eating whatever I wanted when ever I wanted until the I was full or the food started losing flavor. (There is always a point when food starts to not taste as good as when you started and that is when I stop eating. (It’s hard sometimes and I want to keep going but i physically can’t now that I trained my self not to)
- trying to drink as much water as possible (my goal is 2 Stanley’s full of ice water)
- strength training 1-2 times a week
-running or walking on the tredmil 2-3 times per week
- listening to my body. (If I’m tired or sick I rest, if I’m hungry I eat, if I’m not I don’t.) this is coming from someone who struggled with binge eating and eating disorders.
- I talked to my doctor about my concerns and she matched me with a health coach my insurance covered.
- I started contrave. It is perfect for people with eating disorders and food addictions. It is also an antidepressant so it helps if you struggle with emotional eating as well!
- b12 injections every 3 months ($25)
I hope this helps someone! Remember talk to your doctor before trying any new weightloss routine or medication #weightlosstransformation #weightlossafterbabies #weightlossafter30
