BIPOC books for the littles in your life

I love giving books too kids especially books to read with their parents. I've bought multiple this year but these have to be my favorite because they also hold sentimental value.

Plátanos Are Love actually caught my eye while I was in New York visiting multiple book stores. It wouldn't fit in my suitcase but I knew I needed to gift it to one of my younger cousins. The art work is beautiful and platanos are in my top 5 foods so I wanted this book in my family for sure! This author is Dominican and Puerto Rican and I will say this one is a lot more Spanglish vs English.

Taino Tales Legend of Coquí was a pick for my slightly older baby cousin because I felt his attention span would hold better (neither of them can read so it's more of what I think they'll enjoy at bedtime) the artwork looks a little more advanced and there's a lot more words per page. This one felt sentimental because my grandfather used to keep a coqui 🐸 key chain on his keys so it felt like a small tribute to him ❤️
