Chalong NYC
This restaurant is opened by the former head chef of Soothr, and it's extremely popular in Manhattan. There's usually a long line outside around 7 PM, so make sure to make a reservation! The food here is generally spicy, as they use hot sauce instead of pepper. For me, the level of spiciness was a bit much to handle. Make sure to pay attention to the number of asterisks (*) on the menu when ordering; the more asterisks, the spicier the dish. Additionally, the portions are on the smaller side.
🌮 Baerng Golae
This appetizer is super delicious and not spicy at all. I highly recommend it! The crispy coconut cookies are stuffed with fried shrimp and a rich curry sauce. The shrimp is very fresh and tender, and biting into it is a very satisfying experience.
🦀️ Crab Curry**
The spiciness of this dish was a bit too much for me, but the curry sauce is very creamy and goes well with rice and crab meat. Every dish comes with rice, and I really like the texture of the rice.
🦐 Sator Goong***
This dish is super tasty, and I could easily eat two bowls of rice with it. The only problem is that it's really spicy, especially the minced meat which is stir-fried with chili. The flavor is delicious, but I couldn't handle the spiciness. It's tasty, but I don't think I could eat it again.
Kee Mao Seafood 🍜
Compared to the other dishes, the Drunkman Noodle here is just okay, in my opinion. I think you could skip it and stick to rice as your main dish.
