I've been a big fan of Italian food ever since I was young, and to be honest, I think homecooked Italian food is the best. But I've realised that when in doubt, i always go for Italian food when I'm out.

Brought my girlfriend out for a birthday treat and she mentioned she wanted to try SOLO RISOTANTE over at Amoy Street, and i was initially a little skeptical because the menu is quite limited and the space looked small, but i said why not and we made our way there.

Little did I know, I bumped into friends Angela and Simone, who both owns and runs the restaurant! This made me super happy because they're such angels. Looking around the space, it gave me real homey vibes and I was 💯 there for it. 😌

Food with my girlfriend was AMAZING, and being able to see Chef Simone cook right in front of your eyes made the whole experience more wholesome. It was so good that I had to bring my boyfriend to try the food too, and that's what I did 2 weeks later. 😋 this is what we had-

✨ welcome foccia bread - we were served fresh & heated up foccia bread that had a generous amount of salt sprinkled on top. It was soft and crunchy at the same time, it was super good!

✨ Wagyu carpaccio- parmigiano reggiano "vacce Rosse" 24mo dressing aged balsamic vinegar, black truffle was *to. die. for.* The Wagyu was so thinly cut and basically melted in our mouths. Totally worth the price! We demolished the whole plate within minutes. 🤤

✨ clams in white wine - I'm not sure what the actual name of this dish is called because it seems that they've changed the menu since I was last there, but basically it was clams in garlic white wine sauce. It was topped with chilli padi as well which made the clams even more appetising. The crunchy bread on the side was a nice addition, but I would recommend not eating the bread first before the rest of your food arrives because you might full faster! Tbh, this dish was a lil' underwhelming, but nevertheless yummy.

✨ Scallop tagliatelle marinara & capers - this was their off the menu item and it was something we were NOT expecting. We usually don't like tomato base pastas but this really blew our minds. It was creamy, had just enough capers (we don't like capers) and the scallops were juicy & big. Geeez it was so worth the $$$, and we were so close to ordering another plate for ourselves we controlled ourselves.

✨ tagliolini - this pasta dish is initially what I came back for because I saw a friend of mine post it on her Instagram and it looked so good. Smoky sea urchin sauce, tarragon, lemon zest & uni. Super. Damn. Good. I swear, just like the previous pasta dish, we were so close to ordering another plate for ourselves but we were getting full by then. Rich, umami, smoky, pure goodness on a plate. 🤤🤤🤤

I definitely recommend this restaurant, pair your food with a nice bottle of red and you'll be set! Be prepared to spend some $$$ here because it's not cheap 😬 but it is definitely worth it.

Leave a comment below if you've tried it and what your favourite dishes were! Looking forward to seeing some of your replies. 😋Solo Ristorante
