I finally passed my driving test yesterday!! 😭
My journey as a private learner has been painfully long.
It all begun when I got a manual private instructor contact with no research. I went to SSDC just because that was the only contact I had when BBDC was way nearer for me and took manual because why not have more options right? Since I’m paying the same price.
During my first test I realised I was not prepared at all even though I already gone through about 10+ lessons by then. The instructor did not even teach me to check the back of both sides when I reverse.
Being stubborn I went for a second test after a few more lessons and failed again cause I panicked.
THEN I put it off due to 2 years of Covid and procrastinated as i decided to switch to auto for an easier life but this meant i had to create a new account at BBDC > Find a new instructor > Retake my FTT cause it expired > go through 3 simulator (which didn’t existed when i enrolled back then‼️)
Last year in 2023 I made it my goal to complete what i have started. I had the determination to do it due to major fomo and pure angst that other people seem to have it easy 😂
I went through the whole motion and took my first auto driving test. Then I realised that I failed this time despite lots of practice due to anxiety 😔
Was really upset so I tried to book my second test right after but realised they only had openings two months later. I also had a hard time just trying to book slots for practice with my instructor who eventually ended up in the hospital and left me to die 3 days before my second test.
⚠️ His last message to me was “Any other pte instructor will do.” but now I would like to say that everything happened for a reason bcos after I got a new contact from a friend…
I passed my circuit!! despite a rainy day and a change of vehicle 3 days before my test but I made a grave mistake of not changing to the right lane before turning out OF THE BBDC to do my test on the road MAJOR L
Here’s what my substitute instructor did right
✦ Efficiently replied my messages and actually rmbs my slots (Managed to book lessons for the month in advanced)
✦ Gave me constructive criticism and advice
(Not only pointed out my mistakes but explained to me why I made the mistake)
✦ Scolded me enough to make me remember how to look at directions of road markings
✦Told me to eat a Panadol before my test to calm my anxiety
On the day of my third Auto test I took two Panadol and managed to calmly apply what I have learnt 🤣
💰 Total damage probably 4-5k atp. No regrets because I felt a huge burden lifted off my shoulders and insanely proud of myself for not giving up. I hope this inspires everyone to never give up despite failures 🥹 The end result will make the whole journey worth it.
