Go Karting on streets of shibuya in the rain ☔️

Always wanted to try the go karting on the streets of shibuya so of course when I went to Japan, we booked a session!

So… #storytime

The day we were supposed to do go karting, it started drizzling initially. I was super bummed out because the rain got so heavy we had to seek shelter somewhere nearby. Was thinking maybe the session is gonna be cancelled so since we were around the area so we headed to the go kart place to ask if the session was still going to happen. The dude there was hilarious because we couldn’t really communicate (language barrier) so we were just laughing, google translating and struggling to ask “it’s raining now is it getting cancelled”

In the end we got told it’s still going to continue so we just waited somewhere nearby (got to explore muji! It’s huge btw)

when it was time we headed and back and even though it was raining…. It’s going to continue. Tbh so many things flashed before my mind because we were new to go kart, it’s a foreign country + raining + on busy shibuya streets just feels…. Dangerous

we picked out our onesies, watched the safety video, got briefed and off we go!!

I think in general it’s quite manageable (scary for someone like me that has a license but don’t drive) but overall we were guided through the streets with instructions so it felt quite ok!! fun in fact hahahaha

So of course…. The rain got heavier and we were completely drenched hahaha it was so cold but the adrenaline made it so fun (forgot how dangerous it was once we were on the streets)

our group was rather big so there was one driver/instructor in front and another one in the middle so they were always taking care of us, giving us instructions on when to turn etc, and taking A LOT of photos. The amount of effort tho because there were times he got off his bike in the middle of the streets to help us capture pictures! (Mind you it was shibuya crossing so you can imagine how busy the streets were)

Would have been better if it wasn’t raining and we weren’t drenched but this is a completely different vibe and experience so still 10/10!!!

Got back and they airdropped us the photos and off we go - end of sesh!

Overall 10/10 experience ✨ defo a must try if you’re in Japan!
