For tonkatsu lovers~ Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu

Had dinner here with my wife not two hours ago, splendid meal. We had tried Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu in Kyoto itself and were pleasantly surprised to find one outlet (the only outlet) in Singapore.

We ordered the half-and-half options of 1) Sirloin and Chuck Tail Flap Gyukatsu Zen and 2) Sirloin and Tenderloin Gyukatsu Zen. While the various cuts were delicious, we recommend the Tenderloin cuts for their cut size and texture of the meat.

As an add-on, we ordered one portion of Minced Wagyu Beef Katsu ($7) and this was superb. I was wavering between calling one or two portions but one portion is sufficient to share among the both of us. The breadcrumb exterior is crunchy and the minced wagyu interior is juicy and cooked perfectly.

Worth the wait to get a table (we were lucky, only waited around 20 minutes) and the service staff were all friendly in asking if it was our first time here, and the different ways to enjoy the tonkatsu with the variety of dipping sauces and condiments- Kyoto Dashi Curry, Fresh Wasabi, Rich Umami Onsen Egg, and a set of three (Dashi Soy Sauce, Sansho Pepper Salt and Gyukatsu sauce). My personal favorite is the Sansho.
