I found out why all the security guards love me 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

I take great pride in having a wonderful relationship with our security guards. Sometimes we have a chat, sometimes I buy them Tauhuay, sometimes I illegal park in the area and they don’t clamp my car. We have a lovely understanding between us.

I greet them every morning and make it a point to remember all their names. Which is why I thought ALL of them loved me very much! But it was way further from the truth than I ever imagined.

One day upon reaching home, I wound down my window expecting to see my favourite Indian security guard, B. He was an extremely chirpy guy with an infectious smile. The residents all love him to bits.

So when he wasn’t there, I asked his stand-in Z why B wasn’t around today. To my dismay, he explained that B had already left abruptly to look after his sick brother at Marine Parade. He would no longer be coming back and they didn’t even do a farewell for him.

“My entire family loves B!”I offered sadly. “He’s always so happy and courteous. What a loss for our estate.”

“Yes Sir. Sir, you know B also love you a lot. You are number one for him bro!” He replied as a matter of factly.

“Why leh?” My eyes widening in surprise. “Because my daughter very cute issit?”

“NO LAH!” He started grinning from side to side. “HE NEVER TELL YOU MEH? HE NEVER TELL YOU???”

“Tell me what????!!!” I did not have a clue what it was. “He never tell me LEH!”

With a twinkle in our Malay security guard Z’s eye, he proudly proclaimed: “HE BUY YOUR CARPLATE NUMBER for 4D LAH. KEEP ON OPEN OPEN.”

I was like: “NOOOOO WAYYYYY,” in absolute surprise.

He was like: “YAAAA! Whole guard unit know your number. 9292. Always open!!!!”

I shook my head in disbelief. “B always buy is it?!!!”

Z: “YA, B bought the most! He happy sia,” he replied.

I started having flashbacks on random days where I drove home and everyone cheered for me. And I had absolutely no clue why and cheered along.

“You never buy mehhhh?” Z asked.

“No leh, I Christian I don’t buy lottery,” I responded.

“Wasted la haha.” Z said. “REALLY BEST NUMBER FOR ALL OF US!”

Epilogue 9️⃣2️⃣9️⃣2️⃣

I went up and downloaded the Singapore Pools app. In 2024 alone, 9292 featured 4 times for both consolation and special prizes. In 2022, 9292 featured 5 times for the year. This is excluding iBet that has even more permutations.

You really can’t make this shit up.

I learnt that sometimes people can hate you without reason, sometimes people can love you without reason. 😎
