If you’ve read my previous posts, you’ll know how desperate I was in trying to conceive 😣 . So for those who are TTC, I totally feel you and I really hope that what I’ve shared will help in your journey!!

After talking to friends who have given birth, read up online and watched many videos, these were some of the things I ate and used:

✨Bai Fong Wan from Eu Yan Seng

I started taking this after my period ended. This is said to tonify the blood, regulate qi, strengthen the spleen, nourish the kidneys, and stabilize chong and ren channels (the two primary channels responsible for fertility and reproductive health).

** I will recommend getting the pills form and not the large pills as they are easier to consume.

✨Ba Zhen Tang (Eight Treasure Soup)

This works the same as the BFW, so if you take the BFW pills, you do not need to drink this. I got the packet herbs from NTUC and pressure cooked them with chicken.

✨Red rice cooked together with red beans, red dates and walnuts (in the photo, there’s tofu and kimchi added)

From a TCM perspective, these are how they are beneficial when TTC:

✔️Red rice - enhances blood circulation and nourishes the uterus

✔️Red beans - rich in folic acid and strengthens the spleen which improves the qi and blood needed for overall health

✔️Red dates (Jujube) - tonifies the blood and strengthens the spleen and stomach.

✔️Walnuts - In TCM, the kidneys govern reproductive function. Walnuts are thought to strengthen kidney qi and essence, which are critical for fertility

✨Huai Shan (Chinese yam/ wild yam) - tonifies the spleen, nourishes yin, and strengthens the kidneys. It is often used to regulate menstrual cycles and promote ovulation by balancing yin and yang

✨Folic acid

This plays a critical role in supporting early fetal development and helps to reduce the risk neural tube defects in baby and it’s important to take it at least 1 month before conception. You don’t have to buy expensive ones. I got this from Guardian, though I can’t remember how much exactly were they but I recall they were only a few dollars.

✨Pre-seed fertility lubricant

Apparently this lub (unlike other normal lubs such as KY) provides a suitable environment for the sperms to survive in, hence allowing them to reach the egg. This comes with 9 applicators (which I washed with warm soupy water and reused when I ran out of them), making it easy to use. It’s pretty pricey though but definitely a necessary investment.

🔴The next item wasn’t something I used because I got pregnant before I received it but I’ve read and heard good reviews on it so I’m listing this here for your consideration.

✨Progessence phyto plus oil from Young Living

This oil is a natural progesterone serum that uses plant-derived, bio-identical progesterone from wild yam (Dioscorea villosa) combined with essential oils such as frankincense, bergamot, and peppermint. It is designed to help balance hormones, especially progesterone levels, which play a critical role in fertility and reproductive health.

‼️Word of caution though, as it affects your hormones, it is best to consult your gynae/fertility doc before using it.
