my REAL semester exchange in the US 🤠🇺🇸

hello lemon8!!!!! i just came back from a semester exchange in the US and i thought i would share a lil bit about my study abroad experience hehe!!

i went to the university of wyoming for exchange and it was honestly the most amazing, unexpected experience ever… ~~

#1 campus life

i was worried i would be bored but campus life was really vibrant. school events always had activities like plushie-stuffing🧸 and karaoke, trivia/bingo nights etc!! i also watched lots of inter-college games (football, basketball etc) & went for free spin classes! my school had a three-storey gym lol it was mad cool actually. i also stayed in a dorm and my roommate was an American girly… we got along really well and we had so much fun just gossiping in our lil room🤭

#2 nAtURe 🌿🌲

because wyoming is known for its beautiful scenery and nature, i seized the opportunity to experience ~small town life~ and also went for lots of nature hikes hehe. i visited several state and national parks (more on this someday) and also saw SNOW for the first time. really vv breathtaking 🫶🏻

#3 the true college experience: IS IT AS YOU SEE ON TV?

honestly this was the question i got the most from family and friends when i came back HAHA. frat/house parties are quite like what you see on screen, but it’s definitely not a universal experience and some nights are just more vibey than others. alcohol was actually pretty cheap tho which was a plus, and we would pre-game before heading out anyway. something that was quite interesting to me was that there actually wasn’t a lot of social pressure to drink, nobody would question you if you declined a drink :”

pro tip!! some bars/clubs charge entry fees, but many others don’t… LOOK FOR THOSE!! it means you can go out and have a great night without burning a hole in you wallet ❌💸

i also got to dress up for my first halloween… WE DID A HALLOWEEKEND BENDER and it was really. insane. but you def have to be careful if you’re going to spend nights out while in the US!!! always go with trusted friends and watch your drinks!!!!

ok anyway long story short i had a blast and i would def encourage everyone who is considering a semester abroad to go for it :) it was a period of healing for me, and an opportunity to discover myself and learn to be independent. i will definitely treasure these memories forever 🤍
